Phoenix Children’s Hospital is currently hiring for the Vice President of Acute Care Services at our main campus. The VP of Inpatient Acute Care will play a key leadership role and participate in program development, patient satisfaction, budget preparation and execution, and work closely with other members of the nurse leadership team in achieving the goals of patient care. The incumbent will integrate with the organization’s operations, participate in performance management activities and ensure professional and regulatory compliance is achieved in all areas of responsibility. In this role, the incumbent will responsible for the direction and leadership of all of Acute Care, that will include, but not limited to HemOnc, Med/Surg, Ortho, Neuro/Trauma, Inpatient Rehabilitation, and Vascular Access Services. Incumbent will have a team of direct reports who are responsible for the day-to-day operations, budgeting, financial management, and human resource management. This role will work closely with the Critical Care Services to ensure overall goals of patient care are met within the hospital, sharing resources, planning and providing support. This position will report up to the CNO, and will work closely in developing plans, and objectives to support the growth of the overall PCH across the East and West Valley in the years to come.
The Vice President, Acute Care Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for the daily operational responsibilities to Inpatient Medical-Surgical Specialty Areas (Infectious Disease, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Hematology, Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Renal, Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring, Neurology, Orthopedics, Rehabilitation, and Biobehavioral Health) and the Wound Ostomy Nursing Program. This position serves as a catalyst for creating a patient care environment that fosters patient advocacy, quality clinical competence and a professional work environment. In addition, this position is responsible for overseeing the achievement of goals related to patient experience, clinical outcomes, professional outcomes and indicators related to performance and performance improvement.
Education
Master’s Degree in Nursing OR a Master’s Degree in a related field with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. (Required)
Doctorate in Nursing Practice. (Preferred)
Experience
Seven (7) or more years of progressive experience in a leadership role in the area of Acute Care Services. (Required)
Certifications
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona. (Required)
Certified Nurse in Nursing Leadership or related Nursing Clinical Certification area. (Required)
Special Skills
Knowledge and practice in a Magnet environment. (Preferred)
Leadership skills in interpersonal relations, group dynamics, problem-solving, critical thinking, negotiating, interviewing, observation, counseling, teaching, decision-making and implementation/evaluation skills. (Preferred)
Performance and outcome-oriented with the ability to set both the strategic and operational direction of the department(s) in an innovative and creative manner. (Preferred)
