An award-winning Nephrology practice in highly desirable Knoxville, TN, is looking for an additional partner. The Knoxville Kidney Center, PLLC, a privately owned practice of two Board-certified Nephrologists is expanding due to rapid growth in their market. They are well positioned to remain independent. Among its other accolades, KKC received the RPA Exemplary Practice Award in 2011 and was designated as a Center of Excellence in renal care by CMS with its Gold Star in Subspecialty Care in 2012. The Practice Manager was named the RPA Practice Manager of the Year in 2014. The two physician partners, with the associate physician, and their four Nurse Practitioners cover only one hospital but have dialysis patients in eight hemodialysis units and four stand-alone home dialysis units. Due to the expansion of their affiliated health system, Covenant Health, into wider markets, KKC is receiving referrals from a wider base and at a faster pace than ever before. Currently, the practice serves as medical directors of four HD units and two home units, serves a hemodialysis population of more than three hundred patients, and is in the process of expanding into a new market with potential for multiple new directorships within the next year.. The practice is very active in clinical research, with 7-10 trials enrolling at any time, assisted by a full three-person research staff. A new associate would share in the new referral office rotation and would take call and cover Park West Hospital, along with the current partners. The current call rotation includes four physicians, including the two affiliated members of the schedule, so a new member would take 1 in 5 calls. Also, a new physician would have an equal share of KKC's outreach at the three separate satellite clinics the practice operates. KKC's partners believe a new physician would be busy quickly and would be eligible for partnership as soon as one to two years. The entire compensation package includes a competitive starting salary, plus standard perks such as group health, phone, mileage, reimbursement, 401K with employer match and profit sharing, and vacation time; in addition, the practice provides an accessory retirement plan for owners known as a Cash Balance plan, for further deferred compensation opportunities. Partners share common expenses and medical director compensation. Participation in clinical research is voluntary but certainly allowed. In the last three years, the practice has also started a telenephrology service which is currently providing nephrology services remotely to six different hospitals during day-time hours. This venture, in addition to providing in-community renal services to outlying communities, has also served as another significant source of revenue to the practice.
